Wavering in the Wind

After getting the sink line and speed spot for the 12 footer I was preparing to sink, an enormous gust of wind pushed against my chest throwing me off balance. I was indecisive as to whether to putt, or to back off the shot. All of this happened in a split second.

Well, I backed off the shot, the wind settled down a bit, and then putted without conferring with Putting Angel Pete. Don’t ya know, my ball went completely straight and missed three inches to the right of the hole. This made me realize that if I putted when the wind was blasting, my ball would have been pushed to the left three inches or so and would have found the bottom of the cup.

The angels have this whole thing calculated precisely. A head scratcher for sure!

Left Field

What an unorthodox round of golf today. Things became odd after making the turn. When I returned home and reviewed the round, I realized my drive went left on every hole into the rough, except luckly not on #12, a par 3 which is surrounded by water on three sides. Other than that, this unconventional back nine was downright weird.

As the back was unfolding, there was, a realization that something out of the ordinary was happening. By the time I got to the fifteenth hole, I chuckled, knowing most likely a blog would come forth. What amazed me most was my attitude, I just accepted each shot as it came with no fuss, resistance or annoyance. Needless to say, the angels were shocked!

In hindsight, I didn’t hit a one fairway, played shots from alternate fairways, found places on the course I never knew existed. It reminded me of being at the arcade playing a pinball machine. And what was truly astounding was my score on the back nine was what I would typically shoot. Go figure!

The message from the angels is to stay the course, put your best foot and attitude forward, and all will work out … often even better than expected. A great reminder as occasionally I get stuck in the grind, or push to make things happen.

Sometimes a roundabout way leads us to surprisingly discover something we would not have experienced otherwise … inside ourselves.
