Left Field

What an unorthodox round of golf today. Things became odd after making the turn. When I returned home and reviewed the round, I realized my drive went left on every hole into the rough, except luckly not on #12, a par 3 which is surrounded by water on three sides. Other than that, this unconventional back nine was downright weird.

As the back was unfolding, there was, a realization that something out of the ordinary was happening. By the time I got to the fifteenth hole, I chuckled, knowing most likely a blog would come forth. What amazed me most was my attitude, I just accepted each shot as it came with no fuss, resistance or annoyance. Needless to say, the angels were shocked!

In hindsight, I didn’t hit a one fairway, played shots from alternate fairways, found places on the course I never knew existed. It reminded me of being at the arcade playing a pinball machine. And what was truly astounding was my score on the back nine was what I would typically shoot. Go figure!

The message from the angels is to stay the course, put your best foot and attitude forward, and all will work out … often even better than expected. A great reminder as occasionally I get stuck in the grind, or push to make things happen.

Sometimes a roundabout way leads us to surprisingly discover something we would not have experienced otherwise … inside ourselves.
